Mid-Level Valve Technician

Job Purpose

The Valve Technician will be responsible for inspection, dismantling, servicing, repair, reassembly, testing, and maintenance of different types of industrial valves in workshop and site environments. The technician must be able to perform valve maintenance activities safely and in accordance with approved procedures, technical specifications, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, dismantling, cleaning, servicing, repair, and reassembly of industrial valves.

• Work on different types of valves including:

  • Gate Valves

  • Globe Valves

  • Ball Valves

  • Butterfly Valves

  • Check Valves

  • Control Valves

  • Safety Valves / Pressure Safety Valves, where applicable

• Carry out visual inspection of valve body, bonnet, stem, seat, disc, plug, ball, sealing surfaces, and other components.

• Perform lapping and polishing of valve seats, discs, plugs, and sealing surfaces where required.

• Replace damaged or worn-out components such as gaskets, gland packing, O-rings, seals, bearings, studs, nuts, and bolts.

• Carry out valve assembly and ensure proper alignment and tightening.

• Perform hydrostatic, pneumatic, seat leakage, shell, and functional testing as applicable.

• Assist in set pressure adjustment and testing of safety valves when authorized and qualified.

• Identify valve defects and report repair requirements to the supervisor or Valve Engineer.

• Operate valve testing equipment, pumps, hand tools, power tools, lapping machines, and measuring instruments.

• Read and understand valve drawings, datasheets, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.

• Record valve condition, repair activities, test results, and replacement parts.

• Ensure proper tagging and identification of valves during workshop and site activities.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and clean condition.

• Follow all HSE requirements, Permit to Work procedures, PPE requirements, and client safety regulations.

• Support shutdown, turnaround, offshore, plant maintenance, and emergency valve service activities when required.

• Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, QA/QC, and client representatives during inspection and testing.

• Perform other related valve maintenance activities assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, Machining, or equivalent technical qualification.

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in industrial valve maintenance, repair, servicing, and testing.

• Hands-on experience with manual and actuated valves is preferred.

• Experience in power plants, oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, utilities, industrial plants, or valve workshops is preferred.

• Good knowledge of valve components, operating principles, and maintenance practices.

• Ability to use vernier calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges, torque tools, and other measuring instruments.

Preferred Requirements

• GCC/UAE experience is an advantage.

• Experience in safety valve / PSV servicing and testing is an advantage.

• Experience with control valves and actuators is preferred.

• Relevant valve testing or technical certifications are an advantage.

• Previous shutdown, offshore, or power plant experience is preferred.

• Immediate availability for mobilization will be an advantage.
