Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Instrumentation Technician to join our Oil & Gas operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, calibration, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of field instrumentation and control systems used in oil & gas and process facilities.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with field instruments, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, instrumentation loops, and associated systems, while ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures, technical standards, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Perform calibration and functional testing of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pressure/temperature transmitters, flow meters, level transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, and positioners.
  • Carry out instrument loop checking, continuity checks, signal verification, and functional testing.
  • Perform 4–20 mA signal testing and troubleshoot instrument signal and wiring faults.
  • Work with HART communicators and other instrumentation testing and calibration equipment.
  • Perform calibration using appropriate test equipment such as multifunction calibrators, pressure calibrators, temperature sources, and digital multimeters.
  • Assist with installation and maintenance of control valves, actuators, positioners, solenoid valves, and instrument air systems.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, hook-up drawings, and instrument index documents.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation systems.
  • Identify instrumentation faults and carry out effective troubleshooting and repair.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, shutdown, turnaround, and maintenance activities as required.
  • Ensure instruments are correctly installed, tagged, calibrated, and functioning according to specifications.
  • Record calibration results, maintenance activities, test results, and equipment history accurately.
  • Coordinate with Instrumentation Engineers, Supervisors, Electrical Technicians, and Operations personnel.
  • Follow Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined-space, gas-testing, and other site safety procedures.
  • Ensure all work complies with company HSE requirements and applicable Oil & Gas standards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions at the job site.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, or a related discipline.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in instrumentation maintenance, preferably within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Gas Processing, or Industrial Plants.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of field instrumentation and control systems.
  • Experience with calibration, troubleshooting, loop checking, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of HART communication and 4–20 mA instrumentation loops.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument datasheets.
  • Experience working in plant maintenance, shutdown, turnaround, commissioning, or construction projects is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of PTW, LOTO, HSE procedures, and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under site/plant conditions.
