Job Title: Marine Blaster / Underwater Blaster

Location: UAE (site-based, onshore/offshore as required)

Work Pattern: Shifts; weather/tide dependent

Job Purpose

Execute marine (including underwater) blasting activities safely and in full compliance with UAE regulations and project HSE requirements, supporting dredging and marine construction works. Ensure effective exclusion zone control, coordination with marine teams, and complete, audit-ready documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute blasting activities in line with the approved Blasting Plan, Method Statement, and Permit to Work (PTW).

• Prepare and secure the blast area: establish marine exclusion zones, deploy buoys/markers/signage, control access, and ensure radio communication readiness.

• Receive, store, handle, and issue explosives and accessories as per legal and company procedures; maintain strict custody, inventory, and consumption records.

• Prepare/charge underwater charges and connect initiation systems as specified (non-electric/electronic, as approved).

• Coordinate with diving/ROV, dredging crews, survey, marine logistics, and security to ensure safe positioning and timing within operational windows (tides/weather).

• Conduct pre-blast checks and clearance: headcount, vessel stand-off distances, weather/sea state review, and final safety verification.

• Initiate blasts strictly as per approved firing procedures and maintain full control of the firing system.

• Support post-blast verification with relevant teams (ROV/dive/survey) and manage misfires strictly per procedure; escalate immediately.

• Implement environmental controls when required (overpressure/vibration, turbidity, marine fauna mitigation measures) as per project requirements.

• Produce and maintain accurate records: blast logs, explosives consumption, misfire reports, PTW documentation, toolbox talks, and daily reports—kept audit-ready.

• Inspect and maintain blasting equipment, firing units, cables, and tools; report defects immediately and ensure calibration where required.

HSE & Compliance (Critical)

• Enforce exclusion zones and marine traffic restrictions; apply Stop Work Authority for unsafe conditions.

• Maintain valid licenses/permits and comply with all applicable explosives and marine authority requirements.

• Follow project emergency response plans and participate in drills/toolbox talks.
