Role Summary

The Sales Engineer – Service & Trading drives revenue growth by identifying, developing, selling, and closing service contracts, maintenance agreements, and trading opportunities for mechanical equipment and parts (especially valves, boilers, safety valves, turbines, control valves, etc.). The role serves as the technical–sales interface between clients and internal teams, ensuring customer needs are accurately understood, translated into service/product offerings, and delivered satisfactorily.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify and develop new client opportunities across oil & gas, power plants, utilities, water treatment, petrochemical, and related sectors.

  • Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals, quotations, and service contracts for valve refurbishment, valve repair/testing, boiler maintenance, turbine maintenance, flow meter calibration, and reverse engineering & machining.

  • Upsell and cross-sell services and spare-parts trading (valves, components, safety valves, instrumentation, etc.).

  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business.

Technical Pre-Sales Support

  • Assess client technical requirements through site visits, meetings, and RFQs/RFPs.

  • Collaborate with engineering/operations teams to determine feasibility, scope, cost, and timelines.

  • Provide solutions for mechanical challenges (e.g., safety valve failure modes, boiler tube issues, turbine part wear).

  • Prepare technical proposals, scopes of work, and compliance/safety documentation.

Market & Product / Service Knowledge

  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and innovations in valve technologies, boiler systems, and flow metering.

  • Understand regulatory and standards requirements (e.g., safety valves, boiler codes, ISO for metering).

  • Support product/service enhancement by feeding customer requirements and market gaps back to internal teams.

Trading / Spare Parts Management

  • Identify, source, and offer spare parts and components (valve internals, seats, trim, boiler internals, instrumentation parts, etc.).

  • Coordinate with suppliers/manufacturers on availability, pricing, and delivery terms.

  • Negotiate purchase/supply contracts to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.

  • Keep product/parts catalogs and price lists current.

Project Coordination & Account Management

  • Following order award, hand over to operations/service delivery and ensure smooth execution against scope; address technical clarifications as needed.

  • Monitor customer satisfaction, resolve issues, and follow up on service performance.

  • Ensure adherence to company QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) policies in proposals and execution. Servtech emphasizes high quality and safety as top priorities.

Revenue & Target Accountability

  • Achieve assigned sales revenue and margin targets for services and trading products.

  • Provide sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and market analyses to management.

  • Track competitive pricing and cost of goods to ensure profitability.

Collaboration & Internal Liaison

  • Work closely with engineering/technical teams (valve repair/refurbishment/testing, boiler maintenance, machining, etc.) to assess capacity, lead times, and technical constraints.

  • Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and quality assurance/inspection.

  • Liaise with finance on contract terms, invoicing, credit, and risk.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education (Required/Preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Additional certifications related to boilers, valves, flow measurement, or safety valves are a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years in sales/business development within mechanical services or trading for valves/boilers/flow metering/industrial maintenance.

  • Experience in the UAE/GCC market is a strong advantage.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of mechanical systems: valves (globe, gate, ball, butterfly, safety), boiler systems (HRSG, etc.), turbines, flow meters, and metrology/calibration.

  • Familiarity with inspection, testing, refurbishment/repair practices, and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).

  • Knowledge of QHSE standards and regulatory requirements in the UAE.

Sales & Commercial Skills

  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.

  • Ability to prepare technical proposals and commercial quotations.

  • Customer-oriented with strong relationship-building and communication abilities.

  • Ability to travel to client sites; flexibility in working hours when required.

  • Excellent organization and time management; capable of handling multiple opportunities/projects.

Others

  • Valid UAE driving license is preferable (for frequent site travel).

  • Proficiency with CRM tools and MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Willingness to adapt to dynamic customer requirements and technical challenges.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Order book/pipeline value vs. forecast.

  • Customer satisfaction and retention rates.

  • Average time from RFQ receipt to proposal submission.

  • Spare parts/components trading growth.

  • Technical loss/cost overruns avoided (through accurate scoping and quoting).

Working Conditions / Additional Details

  • Office-based role with significant travel to client sites (plants, power stations, industrial facilities) for inspections, meetings, and quotations.

  • Some work may involve high-risk environments (boiler rooms, turbine halls, etc.); strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
