Building Watchman

Overview of the Role

Servtech General Maintenance L.L.C is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Building Watchman to ensure the safety, security, and proper maintenance of our client’s premises located in the United Arab Emirates. The ideal candidate will serve as the first line of defense against unauthorized access, monitor the building environment, and perform routine inspections to uphold safety standards. This role requires a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to security and maintenance tasks, contributing to the overall well-being and smooth operation of the property.

Key Responsibilities

• Security Monitoring: Constantly patrol the building premises to prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches. Maintain vigilance during all shifts, including night and holiday hours.
• Access Control: Manage entry and exit points by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining logs of visitors and staff to ensure only authorized personnel are allowed access.
• Surveillance Oversight: Monitor CCTV systems and alarm systems regularly to identify any suspicious activity or security threats, responding promptly to any alerts or incidents.
• Building Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of the building’s interior and exterior, checking for safety hazards, damages, or maintenance issues, and reporting findings to the management team.
• Fire and Safety Compliance: Ensure fire safety equipment such as extinguishers, alarms, and emergency exits are in proper working condition. Assist in evacuation procedures during emergencies.
• Maintenance Assistance: Coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs or issues identified during inspections, ensuring timely resolution to maintain building standards.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, maintenance reports, and security checks for accountability and future reference.
• Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to visitors and staff in a courteous and professional manner, fostering a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Competencies and Requirements

Professional Skills and Experience

• Previous experience in security, watchman, or related roles is preferred, with a strong understanding of security protocols and building safety procedures.
• Excellent observation skills and attention to detail to identify potential security threats or safety hazards promptly.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations, demonstrating quick decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical stamina and fitness to perform regular patrols and inspections efficiently.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with staff, visitors, and emergency responders.
• Basic knowledge of fire safety, first aid, and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to operate surveillance equipment, alarm systems, and other security technology.
• High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism in handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.

Educational Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security training or certifications are advantageous.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Must adhere to all safety and security policies established by the company and client.
• Physical ability to perform patrols and respond swiftly to incidents.
