Piping Fabricator / Fitter

Job Title: Piping Fabricator / Fitter Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Piping Fabricator / Fitter to join our team in supporting piping system fabrication, assembly, and installation in industrial environments. This role requires practical experience in interpreting piping drawings, executing precise fabrication tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with a variety of piping materials and configurations.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication & Assembly

• Fabricate and assemble pipe spools and supports according to isometric and general arrangement drawings.
• Use appropriate tools to cut, bevel, grind, and align pipes accurately.
• Fit-up pipes for welding, ensuring dimensional accuracy and correct orientation.

Installation Activities

• Execute site installation of piping systems, including alignment, clamping, and fitting of valves and components.
• Coordinate with welders, riggers, and supervisors to ensure proper sequencing and fit-up.
• Perform hydrotesting preparation and flange joint assembly as per specifications.

Technical Interpretation & Quality Assurance

• Read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, spool drawings, and welding symbols.
• Conduct dimensional and visual checks before and after fabrication.
• Ensure all work complies with project specifications, codes (e.g., ASME B31.3), and safety regulations.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work closely with supervisors and project engineers to meet production and installation targets.
• Support junior fitters and apprentices through guidance and training on standard practices.
• Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to job safety planning.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Pipe Fitting, or Fabrication Technology.

Experience:

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in piping fabrication and fitting, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects.

Skills:

• Proficient in using fabrication tools such as pipe cutters, beveling machines, grinders, and pipe alignment tools.
• Strong understanding of piping materials (CS, SS, Alloy) and fittings.
• Able to work from isometric drawings and follow QA/QC procedures.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and permit-to-work systems.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Safety certifications (H2S, Confined Space, Fire Watch).
• Basic knowledge of ASME standards and hydrotesting procedures.
