Job Title: Workshop Supervisor 

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Workshop Supervisor to lead and manage our mechanical workshop operations with a focus on safety, efficiency, and technical excellence. This role requires in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, team leadership, and proven experience overseeing complex repairs and overhauls—particularly involving valves, pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment. The Senior Supervisor will be responsible for managing personnel, enforcing QA/QC compliance, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement across workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Management & Leadership

  • Lead and manage daily workshop operations, ensuring all work is executed efficiently, safely, and on schedule.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of technicians, fitters, and junior supervisors.

  • Plan and allocate resources for multiple concurrent jobs while maintaining productivity.

Technical Oversight & Compliance

  • Oversee and approve maintenance, overhaul, and testing activities for critical mechanical components (e.g., control valves, PSVs, actuators, pumps, compressors).

  • Ensure compliance with industry codes (API, ASME, ISO) and client specifications.

  • Validate test results and sign off on completed jobs prior to release.

QA/QC & Documentation

  • Enforce quality control procedures and ensure proper documentation of repair processes, inspection findings, and test certifications.

  • Liaise with QA/QC departments to address non-conformities and implement corrective actions.

  • Ensure traceability and compliance documentation is maintained for audit and client review.

Safety & HSE Enforcement

  • Implement and reinforce workshop safety programs in line with OSHA and company HSE standards.

  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and participate in incident investigations.

  • Promote a culture of safety through leadership, coaching, and training.

Coordination & Client Interface

  • Coordinate with planning, procurement, engineering, and field service teams to align workshop activities with project timelines.

  • Interface with clients during inspections, FATs, and repair progress updates.

  • Prepare reports on workshop performance, job status, and improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Control

  • Drive efficiency, minimize downtime, and optimize resource utilization.

  • Identify process gaps, recommend improvement plans, and implement best practices in mechanical workshop operations.

  • Support budget planning and monitor expenditure related to workshop tools, consumables, and maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field.

  • Advanced technical certifications in valve repair, rotating equipment, or maintenance management are an advantage.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant mechanical workshop experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.

  • Strong experience with API 6D, API 598, ASME VIII, and equipment-specific repair/testing standards.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of valves, pumps, compressors, and actuators

  • Excellent leadership and conflict resolution abilities

  • Proficiency in CMMS, MS Office, and workshop planning tools

  • Effective communication with both technical teams and clients

Preferred Certifications:

  • OSHA 30 / NEBOSH / Equivalent HSE certification

  • API or OEM certifications (e.g., API 510, 570, 653, or manufacturer-specific training)

  • Lean Six Sigma or Maintenance Excellence certifications (desirable)
