We are seeking a seasoned Senior Welding Technician / Welder with valid AWS Certification (e.g., D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, or equivalent) and extensive experience in metal fabrication environments. The role involves executing critical welds, guiding junior welders, interpreting complex drawings and welding procedures, and maintaining quality across projects. This individual will contribute significantly to both production and quality excellence.
Perform precision MIG, TIG, and SMAW welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Execute multi-pass, out-of-position, and full-penetration welds on critical assemblies.
Follow detailed WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and job-specific technical instructions.
Accurately read and interpret complex fabrication drawings, including GD&T, welding symbols, and joint configurations.
Verify material specs, joint types, and fit-up tolerances prior to welding.
Guide and mentor junior and mid-level welders on proper techniques, safety, and WPS compliance.
Lead by example in maintaining high productivity, quality, and discipline.
Conduct self-inspections using visual checks and gauges for common welding defects (e.g., undercut, overlap, lack of fusion).
Collaborate with quality inspectors and engineers during audits and inspections.
Support NDT readiness and third-party inspections as required.
Ensure proper selection and maintenance of welding equipment, consumables, and PPE.
Enforce and model adherence to welding safety standards, fire safety, and hazard control protocols.
Perform high-quality welding on structural and sheet metal components per project standards.
Monitor joint preparation, interpass temperatures, and post-weld cleaning as needed.
Participate in welder qualification tests, procedure trials, and repair/rework operations.
Maintain accurate documentation of weld logs, consumable usage, and productivity metrics.
Support welding audits, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
ITI / Diploma in Welding Technology or Mechanical Fabrication.
5–10 years of experience in welding for industrial fabrication, heavy structures, or piping.
Valid AWS Certification (e.g., AWS D1.1 for steel structures, D1.6 for stainless, etc.).
Solid understanding of welding standards (ASME, AWS, ISO) and common codes of construction.
Proficiency in welding different materials: mild steel, SS, aluminum, duplex steels.
Experience working with automated or robotic welding systems is an added advantage.
Familiar with weld defect identification, rework practices, and NDT basics.
Capable of interpreting weld maps, heat treatment requirements, and job travelers.
