Welding Technician

We are seeking a motivated Junior Welding Technician to assist in executing welding tasks using standard processes such as MIG, TIG, and Spot Welding under the supervision of senior personnel. This role is ideal for candidates who have recently completed vocational or technical training and are looking to gain hands-on experience in a fabrication environment. The Junior Welding Technician will support production welding activities, ensure adherence to basic quality and safety standards, and develop their technical skills on the job.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Welding Operations Support

• Perform basic welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Spot) on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components as instructed.

• Prepare workpieces by cleaning, aligning, and clamping parts before welding.

2. Equipment Setup & Operation

• Set up welding machines and tools under guidance.

• Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of welding equipment and tools.

3. Quality & Inspection

• Perform visual checks and basic dimensional measurements on welded parts.

• Identify common weld defects (porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion) and report issues.

4. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety guidelines and wear proper PPE (gloves, mask, goggles, etc.).

• Comply with shop-floor procedures and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work area.

5. Skill Development

• Participate in welding trials and hands-on training to improve welding consistency and speed.

• Learn to read and interpret simple welding symbols and basic fabrication drawings.

Qualifications:

• ITI / Vocational Certificate in Welding Technology or equivalent.

• 0–2 years of experience in a fabrication or welding environment.

• Basic knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Spot) and welding tools.

• Willingness to learn and improve under mentorship.

• Understanding of basic safety and quality practices in metal fabrication.
