The Senior Welding Supervisor – Food Grade TIG/MIG provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for TIG and MIG welding activities in a stainless steel fabrication environment focused on sanitary food-grade equipment. This role manages large welding teams, develops welding standards and procedures, ensures strict compliance with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA, and USDA regulations, and drives continuous improvement in welding quality, productivity, and safety.
Lead and manage all TIG and MIG welding operations for stainless steel and sanitary food-grade equipment fabrication.
Develop and enforce welding procedures, standards, and best practices aligned with 3-A Sanitary Standards and regulatory requirements.
Supervise, train, and mentor welding supervisors, welders, and support staff to ensure high levels of skill, quality, and safety.
Oversee welding inspection, testing, and certification processes, ensuring weld integrity and compliance.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to address complex welding challenges and implement process improvements.
Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on welding efficiency, defect reduction, and cost control.
Manage welding resources, including personnel planning, equipment maintenance, and consumable inventory.
Ensure rigorous adherence to safety protocols, conducting regular safety audits and fostering a culture of safety excellence.
Prepare and present detailed reports on welding performance, quality metrics, and project status to senior management.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma, associate, or bachelor’s degree in welding technology, manufacturing, or related field preferred
8+ years of welding experience with TIG/MIG on stainless steel and sanitary equipment
Minimum 4 years in a supervisory or leadership role within food-grade or sanitary fabrication environments
Extensive knowledge of 3-A, FDA, USDA, and other relevant food safety and welding standards
Exceptional leadership and team development skills
Deep technical expertise in TIG/MIG welding processes, stainless steel fabrication, and quality assurance
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Experience leading continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and safety programs
Ability to manage complex projects and multi-shift welding operations
