The Mid-Level Welding Supervisor – Food Grade TIG/MIG leads welding operations focused on stainless steel and other sanitary materials in a food and beverage fabrication environment. This role supervises a team of welders, ensuring compliance with food-grade welding standards (3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA), quality control, and safety protocols. The supervisor coordinates daily welding schedules, monitors weld integrity, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the welding department.
Supervise TIG and MIG welding operations for stainless steel and food-grade sanitary equipment fabrication.
Assign welding tasks and manage team workflow to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
Monitor welding quality, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to welding procedures and codes.
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of welding defects or non-conformances.
Ensure compliance with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA regulations, and internal quality systems.
Promote and enforce safety standards, conducting training and safety audits within the welding team.
Mentor and train welders on advanced welding techniques and sanitary welding best practices.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and ensure availability of welding consumables and tooling.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to optimize welding processes and support project goals.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or diploma in welding technology preferred
4–6 years of welding experience, including TIG and MIG welding on stainless steel or sanitary equipment
At least 2 years in a welding supervisory or lead role, preferably in food-grade or sanitary fabrication
Strong knowledge of TIG/MIG welding processes and stainless steel fabrication
Familiarity with food-grade welding standards (3-A, FDA) and quality requirements
Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills
Solid understanding of welding inspection, testing, and quality control
