We are looking for a skilled and proactive Welding Process Engineer (Mid-Level) to lead and optimize welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Spot welding in a high-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of welding technologies, metallurgical principles, quality control methods, and production line integration. This role requires active involvement in process improvement, troubleshooting, documentation, and training of production staff to ensure high-quality and cost-effective welded assemblies.
Develop, implement, and optimize MIG, TIG, and Spot welding parameters for new and existing products.
Design and validate welding procedures to meet mechanical strength, visual, and dimensional requirements.
Perform trial runs, weld qualification tests, and analyze results for improvements.
Create and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and Work Instructions.
Standardize welding setups and fixture requirements for consistency and repeatability.
Conduct weld inspections using visual, dimensional, and NDT techniques (DPT, UT, RT as applicable).
Investigate weld-related quality issues (e.g., porosity, burn-through, undercut) and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with the quality team on PPAP, FMEA, and process capability studies.
Provide hands-on support to welders during production start-up and changeovers.
Train production operators on new procedures, safety standards, and quality practices.
Ensure welding operations comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Work with product design, tool & fixture teams, and maintenance to ensure seamless integration of welding in production lines.
Support cost-reduction initiatives and tooling modifications to improve throughput and quality.
Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical, Welding, or Metallurgical Engineering.
3–5 years of experience in welding process engineering within manufacturing (automotive, heavy machinery, fabrication preferred).
Proficient in MIG, TIG, and Resistance Spot Welding processes.
Strong knowledge of weld symbols, WPS/PQR creation, and metallurgical principles.
Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, control plans, root cause analysis) and inspection techniques.
Experience with standards such as AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, ASME Section IX is a plus.
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
