The Junior Food Grade Welder supports the fabrication of sanitary process systems and equipment by performing high-quality TIG, MIG, and orbital welding on stainless steel components. This entry-level role focuses on clean, precise welds that meet food industry hygiene and safety standards such as 3-A and ASME BPE. The welder will work under the supervision of senior welders and fabrication leads while building experience in sanitary welding techniques.
Assist in performing TIG/MIG welding on stainless steel tubing, pipe, and sheet metal according to fabrication drawings and weld procedures.
Support orbital welding operations, setup, and basic maintenance under guidance.
Follow detailed instructions and sanitary design standards for food-grade equipment.
Grind, polish, and clean welds to meet required surface finishes and sanitary criteria.
Maintain cleanliness of tools, work areas, and weld zones to prevent contamination.
Read and interpret simple blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings.
Complete work documentation and assist in in-process inspections.
Learn and adhere to 3-A, ASME BPE, and internal food safety fabrication protocols.
Report defects or deviations to supervisors and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certification or vocational training in welding preferred
0–2 years of welding experience, preferably with stainless steel in a clean or sanitary fabrication environment
Basic TIG and MIG welding ability with willingness to learn orbital welding
Understanding of sanitary welding principles and surface finish requirements
Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and basic measuring equipment
Strong attention to detail, safety, and cleanliness
