Job Title: Welder – SMAW, GTAW, FCAW (ASME/API Certified)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Welder trained in SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GTAW (TIG), and FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) processes to support welding activities across mechanical fabrication and piping projects. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals who have recently completed welding training and hold valid certifications under ASME or API codes. The candidate will work under close supervision and receive on-the-job training to enhance practical skills in industrial welding applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding Operations (Entry-Level):

  • Assist in performing basic welding tasks using SMAW, GTAW, and FCAW processes on carbon steel and stainless steel components.

  • Prepare and clean weld joints, materials, and equipment under guidance from senior welders.

  • Carry out tack welding and assist in executing root passes and fill/cap passes as instructed.

Support for Fabrication & Assembly:

  • Support fitters and fabricators in positioning and aligning components before welding.

  • Learn to read and interpret basic welding symbols, drawings, and isometric sketches.

Quality and Safety Compliance:

  • Follow welding procedures and ensure proper weld bead quality under supervision.

  • Adhere to site and shop safety protocols, wear correct PPE, and participate in toolbox talks.

  • Assist in maintaining welding tools, machines, and cleanliness of the work area.

Training & Development:

  • Actively participate in welding procedure qualification tests (WPQT) and continuous skill development.

  • Observe and learn from senior welders to enhance proficiency in multi-process welding.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Basic welding (root/tack passes under supervision)

  • Safety and tool handling in industrial environments

  • Developing skills in multiple welding processes

  • Learning and applying ASME/API standards

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Technical diploma or ITI in welding/fabrication or related trade

  • Completion of formal welder training from a certified institute

Certifications:

  • Valid welder qualification certificates (e.g., 2G/3G/6G) under ASME Section IX or API 1104 preferred

  • Additional certification in SMAW/GTAW/FCAW is a plus

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of industrial welding experience in fabrication shops or construction projects

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of welding techniques and equipment

  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced industrial setting

  • Good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness

  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a team
