The Senior Water Treatment Technician – Boiler Feedwater leads the management, optimization, and compliance of all water treatment activities associated with steam generation and boiler feedwater systems. This role ensures consistent water quality through advanced chemical control, system diagnostics, and continuous improvement initiatives. The senior technician mentors junior staff, supports audits, and plays a key role in sustainability and energy optimization programs within the facility’s utility operations.
Lead chemical treatment programs for feedwater, condensate, and steam systems to prevent scale, corrosion, and microbiological issues.
Oversee daily testing, interpretation of results, and dosing system adjustments to meet OEM and regulatory specifications.
Implement and monitor control strategies such as conductivity blowdown, ORP, and automated dosing.
Conduct root cause analysis on system deviations (e.g., carryover, hardness breakthrough, deaerator inefficiency).
Evaluate and improve performance of softeners, RO systems, deaerators, and chemical feed systems.
Partner with boiler engineers and OEMs on utility upgrades, commissioning, or shutdowns.
Ensure utility systems meet GMP, FDA, USDA, FSMA, ASME, and environmental standards.
Lead water treatment documentation efforts including logs, deviations, SOPs, and audit reports.
Support environmental reporting, chemical usage tracking, and wastewater discharge documentation.
Train and mentor junior and mid-level technicians on chemical handling, testing procedures, and system diagnostics.
Develop SOPs and standardized testing protocols to ensure team consistency and data reliability.
Serve as technical advisor to cross-functional teams during process changes, utilities expansions, or regulatory inspections.
Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Production to align water systems with operational goals.
Coordinate with chemical vendors to evaluate program effectiveness, implement improvements, and manage cost.
Participate in energy-saving initiatives such as condensate recovery, boiler efficiency improvement, and water reuse.
