The Junior Water Treatment Technician – Boiler Feedwater assists in the monitoring, testing, and adjustment of boiler feedwater and condensate systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant steam generation. Under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers, the role supports daily operations, water chemistry management, and routine maintenance tasks within the utility systems of a manufacturing facility.
Collect water samples from boilers, feedwater tanks, and condensate return lines.
Perform basic tests for parameters like pH, conductivity, hardness, and dissolved oxygen.
Log sample results and report out-of-range readings to senior technicians.
Assist with chemical feed system checks and inventory management.
Refill treatment chemicals and maintain dosing equipment under supervision.
Learn to interpret lab data and adjust chemical dosing according to protocols.
Support cleaning of strainers, filters, softeners, and deaerators.
Observe and follow all safety procedures, including PPE, confined space entry, and chemical handling.
Help ensure equipment areas remain clean, labeled, and audit-ready.
Complete logs and inspection forms accurately and on time.
Learn documentation procedures related to GMPs, HACCP, or FSMA if in a regulated facility.
Assist in preparing records for audits or utility reviews.
Boiler feedwater sampling and basic water chemistry analysis

Cleanliness, safety, and compliance with treatment protocols
Exposure to boiler system operations and preventive maintenance
High school diploma or GED required
Technical training or coursework in water treatment, chemistry, or mechanical systems preferred
0–2 years of experience in water treatment, maintenance, or utilities (internships or co-ops count)
Experience in food, beverage, or manufacturing environments a plus
Familiarity with basic lab equipment (e.g., titration kits, conductivity meters)
Willingness to learn about chemical dosing systems and boiler feedwater principles
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working in utility environments
Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to learn
Able to follow instructions and standard operating procedures
Good record-keeping and communication skills
