The Vice President of Engineering – Rotating Equipment / Turbines is responsible for leading all engineering functions related to the design, reliability, performance, and lifecycle management of rotating equipment and turbomachinery. This includes gas and steam turbines, compressors, pumps, blowers, and related auxiliary systems. The role provides technical vision, strategic leadership, and oversight across engineering projects and operational assets to ensure performance excellence and engineering integrity.
Define and lead engineering strategies for rotating equipment and turbomachinery aligned with corporate business objectives.
Establish engineering governance, design standards, and technical frameworks in line with international codes (API, ASME, ISO, etc.).
Oversee engineering designs, specifications, and modifications for rotating equipment in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
Ensure the selection, procurement, and integration of turbines and other rotating assets meet technical and commercial expectations.
Provide executive oversight of engineering deliverables and project milestones for all rotating equipment packages.
Collaborate with project management and operations teams during FEED, EPC, commissioning, and handover stages.
Lead performance improvement and upgrade initiatives for turbines (gas/steam), compressors, and critical rotating systems.
Act as the technical authority on turbomachinery during troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and OEM coordination.
Drive the adoption of advanced tools (digital twins, IIoT, AI/ML for predictive maintenance) to improve asset reliability and monitoring.
Promote innovation in design, materials, and system integration to reduce lifecycle costs and improve energy efficiency.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, reliability experts, and project specialists.
Build engineering competency frameworks and technical career paths across the organization.
Manage strategic technical relationships with OEMs, EPCs, and service partners for rotating equipment performance contracts.
Participate in executive-level reviews, audits, client meetings, and board-level reporting.
Gas & Steam Turbines: Engineering, performance, life-cycle optimization, and OEM interface.
Rotating Equipment Systems: Compressors (centrifugal, reciprocating), pumps, expanders, blowers, and gearboxes.
Engineering Governance: Design validation, technical review, standardization, and assurance processes.
Digital Engineering: Use of engineering software (ANSYS, AutoPIPE, CAE tools) and digital solutions for performance tracking.
Asset Lifecycle Management: From conceptual design to decommissioning with focus on RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability).
CAPEX/OPEX Optimization: Support cost-effective project execution and maintenance strategies.
Sustainability & Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental standards, energy efficiency mandates, and decarbonization goals.
Education: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (PhD is an advantage).
Experience: 20+ years in rotating equipment and turbomachinery engineering roles, with at least 8–10 years in a senior/executive capacity.
Certifications (Preferred): API (e.g., 616, 617), PMP, Six Sigma, CMRP, Chartered Engineer, etc.
Technical Expertise: Proven leadership in turbomachinery engineering, rotating equipment selection and integration, and failure analysis.
Leadership & Communication: Strong cross-functional leadership, executive presentation skills, and ability to influence corporate strategy.
