Job Title: Vice President of Engineering – Mechanical Division

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Vice President of Engineering – Mechanical Division to lead our mechanical engineering organization, encompassing design, development, reliability, and execution for mechanical systems across projects and operations. This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring the performance, compliance, and innovation of all mechanical assets—including pressure equipment, rotating and static machinery, valves, and piping systems—within our facilities and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Direction

  • Define and lead the strategic roadmap for the mechanical engineering division aligned with corporate objectives and operational needs.

  • Drive technical excellence, innovation, and standardization across all engineering functions related to mechanical systems.

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to company-wide decisions, investments, and long-term planning.

Engineering Management & Oversight

  • Oversee the design, specification, and review of mechanical systems for new projects, brownfield upgrades, and plant expansions.

  • Ensure compliance with international standards (ASME, API, ISO, ANSI) and company engineering policies.

  • Provide high-level technical approvals and guidance on complex mechanical challenges and failures.

Reliability, Asset Integrity & Performance

  • Direct the development and implementation of asset integrity and reliability programs across all mechanical assets.

  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance to improve equipment uptime, reduce failure rates, and extend asset life.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive improvement initiatives based on data and trend analysis.

Project & Capital Program Support

  • Lead mechanical engineering involvement in all phases of capital projects, from concept through commissioning.

  • Ensure resource planning, design assurance, technical quality, and risk mitigation are built into all project phases.

  • Support cost control, timeline adherence, and technical performance on mechanical scopes.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, specialists, and technical managers.

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, collaboration, and accountability.

  • Drive professional development, knowledge sharing, and succession planning for the mechanical division.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure all engineering activities adhere to applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead or support incident investigations involving mechanical failures and implement systemic solutions.

  • Establish and govern engineering assurance processes, including design reviews, audits, and peer checks.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).

  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in the oil & gas, energy, or industrial manufacturing sectors.

  • Minimum 5 years in senior management or executive roles overseeing large engineering teams and complex projects.

Technical & Executive Competencies:

  • Deep technical knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment design, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and mechanical integrity.

  • Strong leadership and change management skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and business acumen.

Preferred Certifications:

  • API (510/570/580/581), ASME standards knowledge.

  • Project Management (PMP), Reliability (CMRP), or Six Sigma certifications desirable.

  • Safety leadership training (NEBOSH, OSHA) advantageous.
