We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Water Treatment Engineering (Mechanical) to lead and oversee the mechanical engineering design, development, and execution of water and wastewater treatment projects. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality technical delivery, driving innovation in treatment technologies, and aligning engineering operations with client needs and regulatory standards.
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the mechanical engineering team across water and wastewater treatment projects.
Collaborate with executive leadership, project managers, and cross-functional departments to set engineering goals and align technical execution with company objectives.
Identify and implement improvements in engineering processes, resource planning, and technical standards.
Engineering Oversight & Project Management
Lead the mechanical design and specification of pumps, valves, piping, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, and mechanical components within treatment plants.
Review and approve mechanical design documents, P&IDs, technical specifications, and construction packages.
Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Innovation & Technical Development
Drive innovation in mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and sustainable water treatment technologies.
Evaluate and integrate emerging mechanical technologies and automation into system designs.
Promote standardization and modular design practices to enhance repeatability and reduce costs.
Team Leadership & Development
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
Support professional development, training, and succession planning for engineering staff.
Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWWA, API), building codes, and environmental regulations.
Oversee QA/QC processes for mechanical engineering deliverables.
Support safety risk assessments and hazard analysis as part of system design.
Leadership of water treatment mechanical engineering efforts
Oversight of mechanical design and integration for treatment plants
Strategic innovation in sustainable and efficient water technologies
Compliance with technical, safety, and environmental standards
Team development and cross-functional collaboration
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Certifications (Preferred):
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering
PMP or related project management certification
Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering roles within the water treatment or utility sector
5+ years in a senior leadership or executive engineering role
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and large-scale treatment projects
Skills:
Deep knowledge of water and wastewater mechanical systems and processes
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proven ability to manage complex technical projects and teams
