Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Valvetrain Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced valvetrain systems for internal combustion engines (ICE) and hybrid powertrains. This position is critical to delivering durable, efficient, and performance-optimized engine systems, with responsibilities spanning technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and optimization of valvetrain systems and components such as camshafts, lifters, rocker arms, valve springs, and timing systems.

  • Perform and guide kinematic, dynamic, and fatigue analyses to ensure system reliability under high-load and high-speed conditions.

  • Direct CAD model development and detailed drawing reviews, ensuring compliance with GD&T and manufacturing feasibility.

  • Oversee simulation and validation activities (FEA, durability testing, NVH performance).

  • Collaborate with calibration, testing, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure system-level integration and cost-effectiveness.

  • Conduct and review DFMEA, DVP&R, and root cause analyses for design robustness and quality compliance.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.

  • Contribute to innovation initiatives including lightweight designs, variable valvetrain technologies (VVT/VVL), and electrified engine integration.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Advanced Valvetrain Component and System Design

  • Dynamic Analysis and High-Speed Performance Optimization

  • System Integration for ICE and Hybrid Applications

  • FEA, Durability, and NVH Analysis

  • Design Reviews, DFMEA, DVP&R Execution

  • Mentoring and Technical Leadership

  • Cross-Functional Project Collaboration (Test, Calibration, Manufacturing)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

  • 7+ years of experience in valvetrain or powertrain mechanical system design

  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks)

  • Expertise in kinematic modeling, dynamics, fatigue life analysis, and engine performance metrics

  • Experience leading design validation, test interpretation, and component optimization

  • Knowledge of ISO, ASME, and SAE standards, and quality systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with variable valve timing/lift systems, electro-hydraulic actuators, or camless technologies

  • Familiarity with control systems and engine calibration interfaces

  • Proven track record of project leadership, innovation, and product launch support

  • Strong communication and presentation skills for cross-functional and executive-level reporting
