The Junior Valve Test Technician assists in conducting hydrostatic, pneumatic, and flow testing of marine and industrial valves to verify performance and integrity. Working under the supervision of senior technicians or quality personnel, the role provides hands-on exposure to test setups, safety procedures, and performance evaluation standards.
Assist in the setup of test rigs for hydrostatic, pneumatic, and flow testing of valves including gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check, and relief valves.
Help prepare test equipment, connect pressure lines, mount valves securely, and verify sealing interfaces.
Support the pressurization of valves and observe for leaks, pressure drops, or abnormal operation under supervision.
Record basic test parameters such as pressure levels, holding time, and leak rates as instructed.
Clean and dry test valves and rigs after completion of testing.
Follow safety protocols during pressurization and depressurization processes.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the test bay, tools, hoses, and gauges.
Testing Fundamentals: Understanding principles of hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, including safe pressure application and holding time.
Valve Operation Basics: Familiarity with valve types and basic understanding of how open/close functions and sealing integrity are verified.
Test Equipment Use: Exposure to pressure gauges, hand pumps, pressure chart recorders, and flow benches.
Safety & Handling: Learning safety protocols related to high-pressure testing, leak detection, and test rig preparation.
Data Collection: Introduction to recording test data accurately and recognizing pass/fail criteria under supervision.
ITI or diploma in Mechanical, Marine, or Industrial Technology.
0–2 years of experience in valve testing, mechanical inspection, or workshop support.
Basic understanding of mechanical tools and measurement devices.
Willingness to work in a test environment with high-pressure systems under guidance.
Ability to follow instructions, safety protocols, and work collaboratively in a team.
