Job Title: Valve Supervisor / Valve Shop Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are looking for a competent and hands-on Mid-Level Valve Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in the valve maintenance shop. This role requires a professional with solid experience in valve servicing and shop supervision. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing inspection, repair, testing, and certification of various types of industrial valves. The role involves managing technicians, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and delivering on-time results aligned with maintenance or project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Workshop Supervision & Coordination

  • Supervise the workflow within the valve maintenance shop, allocating tasks to technicians based on skill level and job priority.

  • Ensure proper dismantling, cleaning, inspection, reassembly, and testing of all valve types, including gate, globe, ball, check, control, and pressure relief valves.

  • Coordinate with planning teams to meet maintenance and turnaround schedules.

Valve Repair, Overhaul & Testing

  • Oversee and participate in the maintenance and overhaul of valves per OEM and industry standards (e.g., API 598, 6D, ASME).

  • Supervise hydrostatic and pneumatic testing procedures, ensuring accuracy and safety.

  • Evaluate valve condition and recommend repair, replacement, or upgrades as necessary.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Enforce workshop safety rules, permit-to-work systems, and PPE usage.

  • Ensure all valve maintenance is performed in compliance with quality standards and procedures.

  • Work closely with QA/QC teams to close non-conformance items and ensure documentation is complete.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor availability and condition of tools, test rigs, spare parts, and consumables.

  • Support procurement by providing accurate parts forecasts and consumption data.

  • Maintain traceability of all components and materials used during valve servicing.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, guide, and assess the performance of junior technicians.

  • Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and skill development for valve shop personnel.

  • Promote teamwork and maintain a productive work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Technology, or a related technical field.

Experience:

  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in valve maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role.

  • Proven experience with control valves, safety relief valves, and shut-off valves in workshop or field settings.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in valve disassembly, part inspection, lapping, assembly, and testing techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, valve datasheets, maintenance manuals, and work instructions.

  • Skilled in the use of hydrostatic and pneumatic test benches and tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Certifications:

  • API 598, 6D, or related valve inspection/test qualifications.

  • OSHA, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certifications.

  • Permit-to-Work and LOTO system training.
