Job Title: Valve Specialist – Mechanical Systems 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Valve Specialist to perform technical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical valve systems used in water treatment and distribution. This mid-level role requires hands-on expertise with a range of valve types, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently or in coordination with plant operations and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Valve Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform inspections, overhauls, and repairs on a variety of mechanical valves including gate, butterfly, check, plug, and control valves.

  • Diagnose performance issues, identify root causes of failure, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Conduct valve exercising and torque testing to ensure operational readiness.

Field Work & System Support

  • Isolate and prepare valves for maintenance during plant shutdowns or routine servicing.

  • Work closely with pipeline, treatment plant, and mechanical teams to integrate valve operations with broader system needs.

  • Assist with valve upgrades and retrofits to meet system changes or efficiency improvements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure strict compliance with LOTO, confined space, and PPE protocols during valve servicing.

  • Participate in safety reviews, incident reporting, and hazard assessments.

  • Contribute to a culture of safety and mechanical reliability.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of valve conditions, repairs, and maintenance history in CMMS.

  • Communicate findings to maintenance supervisors and engineering staff.

  • Provide input for reliability reports and asset lifecycle planning.

  • Advanced hands-on valve maintenance and diagnostics

  • Technical reporting and maintenance planning support

  • Fieldwork in treatment and distribution environments

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Technical diploma or certification in mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred

Experience:

  • 3–6 years of experience working with valves in water treatment, power generation, or industrial piping systems

  • Proven experience maintaining large-diameter and critical control valves

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical valve systems and component functions

  • Ability to read schematics, piping diagrams, and technical manuals

  • Proficient in use of CMMS and diagnostic tools

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work safely and independently in demanding field environments
