We are seeking a knowledgeable and results-driven Valve Maintenance Manager to oversee the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of industrial valves across our operations. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of valve systems used in process control, isolation, and safety functions. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in valve technologies and lead a team of technicians to support preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and turnaround planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Valve Maintenance Leadership:
Manage the end-to-end maintenance activities of valves, including control valves, isolation valves, pressure relief valves (PRVs), and automated valve systems.
Develop and implement valve maintenance strategies that align with equipment reliability and safety goals.
Supervise valve disassembly, inspection, testing, lapping, reassembly, and certification.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance:
Establish and maintain valve preventive maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards (e.g., API 598, 527).
Integrate valve condition monitoring into the broader asset management strategy.
Track valve performance data and identify degradation trends or early signs of failure.
Team Supervision & Development:
Lead and mentor a team of valve technicians, planners, and inspectors.
Provide training in valve maintenance techniques, safety practices, and diagnostic procedures.
Conduct performance reviews and promote skill development initiatives.
Turnaround & Shutdown Support:
Plan and execute valve maintenance scopes during shutdowns and turnarounds.
Ensure all valves scheduled for replacement, overhaul, or certification are processed in a timely and compliant manner.
Coordinate with operations, reliability, and procurement for valve-related turnaround logistics.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all valve maintenance work complies with internal safety policies and applicable industry regulations.
Maintain documentation for all inspections, tests, and certifications.
Support audits and regulatory inspections involving pressure relief devices or safety valves.
Vendor & Inventory Management:
Oversee the procurement and quality control of valve components and maintenance tools.
Manage relationships with valve OEMs, service providers, and testing labs.
Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and maintain inventory accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent field experience).
Specialized training or certification in valve maintenance or pressure relief device management is an asset.
Experience:
7–10 years of experience in industrial valve maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
Experience in process industries such as oil & gas, chemical, refining, or power generation preferred.
Familiarity with valve codes, standards, and test procedures (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, ANSI).
Skills:
Strong knowledge of valve types, actuators, positioners, and testing equipment.
Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, isometric drawings, and valve datasheets.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Competence with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and documentation control.
Preferred Certifications:
API 510/570/576
API 598 (Valve Inspection), API 527 (Safety Valve Testing)
OSHA or other industrial safety training
CMRP or equivalent reliability certification is a plus
