We are looking for an experienced Senior Valve Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and qualification of valves used in demanding marine environments. This role involves advanced mechanical design, material selection, performance validation, and regulatory compliance for fluid control components installed in shipboard and offshore systems. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of valve behavior in corrosive, high-pressure marine conditions.
Advanced Valve Design & Engineering: Lead the end-to-end design of marine-grade valves (ball, butterfly, gate, globe, check, relief), ensuring performance under shipboard conditions such as seawater exposure, vibration, and pressure variation.
Marine-Grade Material Selection: Specify metals, elastomers, coatings, and surface treatments optimized for corrosion resistance, durability, and long service life in saltwater and offshore environments.
Design Validation & Simulation: Perform and review flow, pressure drop, and stress calculations; oversee FEA and CFD analyses to validate mechanical and thermal behavior under realistic marine loads.
Standards & Classification Compliance: Ensure valve designs comply with international marine and offshore regulations (e.g., ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register, IMO, ISO, API).
Testing & Certification: Develop and lead testing plans (e.g., hydrostatic, endurance, fire-safe, and environmental testing); interface with classification societies for type approval and product certification.
Cross-Functional Engineering Leadership: Work closely with piping, structural, controls, and manufacturing teams to integrate valves into complex shipboard fluid systems.
Mentorship & Design Governance: Mentor junior engineers, review technical work, and drive standardization of valve design processes and documentation practices.
Lead design projects for marine valve products from concept through production release and post-delivery support.
Oversee 3D modeling, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-ups, and BOM generation.
Define testing protocols for new valve designs and support lab/field validation.
Collaborate with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure technical and regulatory success.
Troubleshoot field issues and lead root cause investigations.
Maintain detailed engineering documentation and contribute to design review boards.
Propose product improvements and innovations based on performance feedback and industry trends.
Support sourcing and vendor qualification for valve components and materials.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
7+ years of experience in valve design, preferably in marine, offshore, or fluid control industries.
Proven expertise in designing valves for corrosive or high-pressure environments.
Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor), and analysis tools (ANSYS, Autodesk CFD, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, mechanics of materials, and fatigue/creep behavior.
Familiarity with marine classification societies and design certification processes.
Excellent problem-solving, project leadership, and communication skills.
Willingness to travel to shipyards, test facilities, or vendor locations as needed.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status.
Experience with actuated valves and control systems integration.
Background in marine piping or shipboard integration engineering.
Involvement in digital twin, sensor integration, or predictive maintenance projects.
Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams or design governance processes.
