The Senior Valve Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of industrial valves (such as ball, gate, globe, check, control, and safety valves) in compliance with international standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ISO, and PED. The role includes engineering calculations, design reviews, material selection, and coordination with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Lead end-to-end design of valves including sizing, material selection, tolerance, and pressure ratings
Develop detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) using CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.)
Ensure compliance with ASME (B16.34, BPVC), API (API 6D, API 600, API 608, API 598) and other relevant codes
Perform stress analysis, pressure/temperature ratings, flow and torque calculations
Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD simulations to validate design integrity and performance
Assess materials for suitability under pressure, temperature, and fluid compatibility
Conduct design validation, risk analysis, and design FMEA
Ensure standardization of valve components and configurations for cost optimization
Maintain engineering documentation and change management records
Collaborate with QA/QC and testing departments to define test plans: hydrostatic, fugitive emissions, seat leak, and fire-safe testing
Support product certifications under international standards (e.g., API Monogram, CE/PED, SIL, ATEX)
Review failure reports and implement design improvements as required
Liaise with supply chain, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness
Provide technical support to customers and internal teams on product specifications and customization
Mentor junior engineers and review their work for accuracy and compliance
Advanced valve engineering aligned with ASME/API standards
Design optimization for high-pressure and high-temperature applications
Design for manufacturability, safety, and performance
Technical compliance and certification processes
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
Minimum 7–10 years of experience in industrial valve design
In-depth knowledge of API, ASME, ANSI, ISO, and DIN standards
Proficiency in 3D CAD, FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus), and engineering documentation software
Strong understanding of casting/forging processes and machining tolerances
Knowledge of material standards (ASTM, NACE, etc.) for pressure-containing components
Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and ECN processes
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
ASME Certification Awareness
API Monogram Program understanding (e.g., API Q1)
Six Sigma/Lean certification (a plus)
Office-based role with shop floor and lab interface as needed
May require travel for technical audits, supplier development, or customer reviews
