We are seeking a Mid-Level Valve Design Engineer to lead and execute the design, development, and validation of industrial valve systems in compliance with ASME, API, and ISO standards. This role requires a solid understanding of mechanical design principles, fluid dynamics, pressure boundary components, and materials engineering. The ideal candidate will be involved throughout the product lifecycle—from conceptual design to final validation—supporting both standard and custom-engineered valve products.
Design pressure-containing components and internal mechanisms of various industrial valves:
Gate, Globe, Ball, Butterfly, Check, Control, and Safety Relief Valves.
Prepare detailed 2D/3D models, assembly drawings, and manufacturing drawings with GD&T using CAD software.
Perform engineering calculations for wall thickness, pressure ratings, Cv sizing, flow velocity, sealing forces, and torque requirements.
Execute design modifications for customer-specific or service-specific requirements (e.g., cryogenic, fire-safe, high-pressure, or corrosion-resistant applications).
Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards:
ASME B16.34, API 6D, API 600/602/608/609/598/527/607, ISO 5208, MSS-SP, PED, NACE MR0175.
Prepare and manage design documents including valve datasheets, design review reports, test plans, and DFMEAs.
Support the creation and management of engineering BOMs, part specifications, and engineering change notices (ECNs).
Participate in prototype development, shop-floor builds, and testing of valves (hydrostatic testing, seat leakage, torque testing, fugitive emissions, fire testing).
Evaluate test results and ensure conformance to functional and safety criteria.
Implement design improvements and lessons learned based on test feedback and customer experience.
Conduct or oversee structural/stress analysis using FEA (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, etc.).
Analyze performance characteristics under thermal, pressure, vibration, and fatigue loading conditions.
Collaborate with material and metallurgy teams for selection of suitable alloys and coatings based on fluid characteristics and service environment.
Work closely with manufacturing, QA/QC, procurement, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and design robustness.
Assist sales/application engineering teams with technical support and custom valve configurations.
Lead design reviews and provide mentoring to junior engineers.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred for R&D-focused roles)
Experience:
3–7 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of industrial valves or similar pressure-containing equipment.
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of valve mechanics, pressure boundary design, materials, and sealing technologies.
Familiarity with actuator mounting, stem sealing (packing, bellows), trim selection, and fire-safe design principles.
Software Proficiency:
CAD Tools: SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD
FEA: ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent
MS Excel (for design calculations, datasheets)
Optional: CFD exposure for flow analysis
Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream, downstream)
Power Generation (thermal, nuclear, renewables)
Petrochemical / Chemical Process

Strong analytical and design engineering capabilities
Proactive in identifying design risks and resolving technical issues
Attention to detail with strong documentation and communication skills
Team player with leadership potential and a continuous learning mindset
Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
Primarily office-based engineering work, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor or testing labs.
May include domestic/international travel for vendor meetings, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and customer design reviews.
