Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Valve Automation and Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of valve automation systems. This includes ensuring the proper function of actuated valves, control valves, and positioners integrated into industrial control systems. The role ensures reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across plant-wide valve systems and supports both routine and shutdown maintenance activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise installation, inspection, calibration, and maintenance of valve types including control valves, on/off valves, motor-operated valves (MOVs), and actuators (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic).

  • Oversee loop testing, functional checks, and troubleshooting of valve systems integrated with PLC/DCS/SCADA platforms.

  • Lead a team of valve technicians in executing planned and unplanned maintenance tasks.

  • Ensure all valve automation activities comply with OEM specifications, internal SOPs, and international standards (e.g., ISA, API, IEC).

  • Manage spare parts, diagnostic tools, and consumables related to valve systems.

  • Coordinate with instrumentation, operations, and process control teams to align valve performance with operational requirements.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of calibration records, test reports, and maintenance history.

  • Support shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning projects involving valve systems.

  • Enforce compliance with HSE procedures, including permit-to-work, lockout/tagout, and equipment isolation.

  • Train and mentor junior staff on proper maintenance practices and diagnostic tools.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems Engineering

  • 5–8 years of experience in valve maintenance and automation, including 2+ years in a supervisory role

  • Proficient in working with actuator brands (e.g., AUMA, Rotork, Emerson, Flowserve) and positioner calibration

  • Experience in integrating valves with control systems using protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus

  • Familiar with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, CMMS)
