The Senior Valve Assembly Technician is responsible for leading complex valve assembly operations, ensuring product conformance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves precision assembly, functional testing, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with quality and engineering teams. This position is critical in driving process consistency, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting pilot or prototype builds in addition to serial production.
Lead assembly of high-precision valve systems including solenoid, thermal, hydraulic, or pneumatic valves.
Interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and control plans to execute detailed builds.
Perform final inspection, functional testing (leak, pressure, flow), and validation checks for each assembly.
Troubleshoot non-conformities and assembly defects; recommend or perform corrective actions.
Support pilot builds and first article assemblies for new products or engineering changes.
Train and mentor junior and mid-level technicians in proper assembly techniques, documentation, and quality standards.
Work closely with engineering and quality teams to provide feedback on design or process improvements.
Maintain calibration, tool condition, and cleanliness of the assembly area per 5S and safety guidelines.
Document build issues, deviations, and process observations for continuous improvement reporting.
Expert Assembly & Technical Leadership:
Execute and oversee complex and high-precision valve assembly tasks independently.
Lead the team in meeting build quality and productivity targets.
Troubleshooting & Quality Assurance:
Detect and resolve mechanical issues in valve actuation, sealing, and fitting.
Lead root cause analysis and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
Documentation & Compliance:
Accurately complete checklists, inspection reports, rework records, and control documentation.
Ensure all builds follow process sheets and traceability standards.
Process Improvement & Feedback:
Provide insights into fixture design, ergonomics, and process sequence improvements.
Support engineering in developing standard work and training content.
Mentoring & Team Support:
Train new team members on valve assembly best practices and tool handling.
Share knowledge of critical tolerances, failure modes, and inspection techniques.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Mechatronics Engineering.
5–10+ years of experience in valve assembly, preferably in high-precision or regulated environments.
Strong understanding of valve design, sealing methods, torque specs, and actuation behavior.
Proficient with mechanical drawings, GD&T, and using precision inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, leak testers).
Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic systems, clean assembly, or test rig support is a plus.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage build quality under tight timelines.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across production, quality, and design functions.
