The Mid-Level Valve Assembly Technician is responsible for independently assembling mechanical and electro-mechanical valves with precision and efficiency, following established procedures and engineering specifications. The technician is expected to perform functional checks, minor troubleshooting, and quality assurance tasks while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role supports both serial production and pilot builds for new product development.
Assemble a variety of valve types (e.g., solenoid, pressure relief, check, flow control, thermal valves) with minimal supervision.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and work orders.
Perform torqueing, sealing, fitting, and functional testing operations as per SOPs.
Conduct basic diagnostic checks and assist in troubleshooting assembly issues.
Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, air leak testers) to inspect critical dimensions and performance.
Complete and maintain assembly documentation, including inspection reports and quality logs.
Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve issues and suggest improvements.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, fixtures, and jigs.
Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and process discipline on the shop floor.
Precision Assembly & Process Adherence:
Accurately build valve assemblies using jigs, fixtures, and hand tools per the control plan.
Ensure sealing surfaces, clearances, and torques meet technical specifications.
Drawing Interpretation & Work Order Management:
Interpret exploded diagrams, BOMs, and process sheets to follow build sequence.
Manage work order completion with accurate time and part tracking.
Inspection & Functional Testing:
Perform pressure/leak tests, actuation checks, or spring force validation.
Inspect tolerances and surface finishes using standard metrology tools.
Problem-Solving & Escalation:
Identify non-conformities and suggest rework or process correction.
Coordinate with engineering when assembly issues require technical input.
Efficiency & Continuous Improvement:
Suggest minor improvements to workflow, fixture setup, or ergonomic layout.
Support line balancing and help reduce cycle time through best practices.
ITI or Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Tool & Die / Mechatronics.
2–5 years of hands-on experience in valve assembly or mechanical sub-assembly.
Proficient in reading technical drawings and following standard operating procedures.
Familiarity with pneumatic/hydraulic systems, sealing elements, and actuation principles.
Skilled in using precision instruments and basic functional test equipment.
Strong attention to detail, process discipline, and commitment to safety and quality.
