The Vice President of Shipbuilding Fabrication and Integration provides strategic and operational leadership over all structural fabrication, modular construction, and system integration activities within the shipyard. This executive role ensures that hull blocks, superstructures, and major outfitting systems are fabricated and assembled with efficiency, quality, and compliance to contractual and regulatory requirements. The VP is a key decision-maker in shipyard modernization, digital shipbuilding practices, and operational scaling for complex defense, commercial, or offshore marine programs.
Lead and direct all phases of structural steel and aluminum fabrication, hull module assembly, and systems integration across multiple projects and vessel classes.
Oversee planning, resource allocation, and execution of production schedules in line with program milestones and delivery targets.
Drive operational excellence in block/module fabrication, joining, outfitting integration, and unit erection/launching processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (ABS, DNV, BV, Lloyd’s, USCG, NAVSEA) and customer technical specifications.
Align fabrication and integration operations with engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and commissioning teams.
Manage budgets, KPIs, and cost control strategies across departments under fabrication and assembly.
Implement modern shipyard practices such as modular construction, lean manufacturing, and advanced welding technologies.
Serve as a key interface with program directors, client representatives, and classification societies during audits, inspections, and milestone events.
Support digital shipbuilding initiatives including 3D model-based integration, MES/ERP systems, and digital quality tracking.
Drive talent development, workforce training, and leadership succession within fabrication and integration departments.
Guide investment planning for infrastructure, automated equipment, and capacity expansion to meet future demands.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
15+ years of progressive experience in shipbuilding operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or executive capacity.
Proven expertise in steel/aluminum fabrication, modular construction, hull integration, and ship system outfitting.
Strong knowledge of shipyard operations, heavy industrial manufacturing, and marine systems (piping, electrical, HVAC, propulsion).
Experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors across complex shipbuilding programs.
Solid understanding of classification society rules, shipyard health and safety regulations, and production quality standards.
Exceptional leadership, project delivery, and strategic planning capabilities.
Experience with naval or government shipbuilding programs (e.g., frigates, OPVs, submarines, or LPDs).
Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and MES platforms (SAP, IFS, AVEVA Marine, ShipConstructor, etc.).
Certification in Lean Six Sigma, PMI, or ISO-based quality management systems.
Experience in digital transformation of shipyards or large-scale fabrication facilities.
Based at shipyard headquarters with regular on-site presence in fabrication shops, integration areas, and dry docks.
Travel may be required for supplier oversight, client engagements, or inter-yard collaboration.
Must adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols applicable to heavy industrial and marine environments.
