The Vice President – Maintenance & Support Systems is a senior executive responsible for leading the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical building support systems including HVAC, fire protection, and Building Management Systems (BMS) within a large-scale industrial or power plant facility. This role ensures optimal operational performance, safety compliance, and integration of automated control systems that support facility and plant operations.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies for HVAC systems, fire protection equipment, and BMS to maximize system availability and lifecycle.
Establish KPIs and reliability goals for support systems and drive continuous improvement programs.
Lead risk-based maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring initiatives.
Oversee the management and upkeep of HVAC units, chillers, ventilation systems, fire alarm and suppression systems, and automation/control platforms (BMS).
Ensure seamless integration of BMS with HVAC, fire safety, lighting, and other critical building systems.
Collaborate with IT and control system teams to enhance automation, data analytics, and fault diagnostics.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with fire safety codes (NFPA), HVAC standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA), and local regulatory requirements.
Lead safety audits, emergency preparedness drills, and ensure readiness of fire protection systems.
Manage vendor relationships for fire protection inspections, HVAC servicing, and BMS software/hardware support.
Provide leadership on upgrade and retrofit projects for HVAC systems, fire protection equipment, and BMS platforms.
Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and schedules related to support system improvements.
Drive technology adoption for energy efficiency, smart building controls, and fire system enhancements.
Build, mentor, and lead multidisciplinary teams of maintenance engineers, technicians, and controls specialists.
Promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, and innovation.
Facilitate training programs focused on HVAC maintenance, fire safety systems, and building automation technologies.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field
Experience:
15+ years in maintenance leadership roles involving HVAC, fire protection, and building automation systems
Strong experience in large industrial, commercial, or power plant facilities
Proven track record in managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of HVAC codes (ASHRAE), fire protection standards (NFPA), and BMS platforms
Expertise in maintenance management systems (CMMS) and automation integration
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
