The Vice President – Maintenance & Capital Projects (Welding & Steelwork Oversight) leads the strategic planning, execution, and management of maintenance activities and capital projects focused on welding and steel fabrication within heavy industries such as power plants, oil & gas, or manufacturing. This executive role ensures the structural integrity, safety, and reliability of steelwork and welded assemblies across plant operations. The VP oversees multi-disciplinary teams handling preventive maintenance, repairs, retrofits, and new construction while ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
Develop and implement maintenance strategies for welding, steel fabrication, and structural integrity aligned with operational goals and regulatory requirements.
Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and safety.
Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects involving structural steelwork and welding scopes.
Ensure projects meet technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and safety teams for seamless project execution.
Enforce adherence to welding codes and standards (ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104, etc.).
Oversee welder qualifications, NDT inspections, and QA/QC procedures.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives in welding techniques and steel fabrication processes.
Manage and mentor maintenance supervisors, welding engineers, steel fabricators, and project managers.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure quality workmanship and timely delivery.
Promote safety culture and compliance in all maintenance and project activities.
Identify and mitigate risks related to structural integrity, welding defects, and fabrication quality.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Develop and control budgets for maintenance and capital projects.
Monitor KPIs such as downtime, repair costs, project milestones, and safety metrics.
Report performance and status updates to executive leadership.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field

Experience:
12–18+ years in maintenance and capital projects with focus on welding and steel fabrication
Proven leadership experience managing large teams and multi-million-dollar projects in heavy industries
In-depth knowledge of welding codes, fabrication standards, and quality assurance processes
