The Vice President – Healthcare Technology and Laboratory Informatics is a key executive responsible for driving digital transformation across laboratory and healthcare operations. This role oversees the strategic planning, deployment, and optimization of laboratory informatics platforms, clinical data systems, and digital health infrastructure. The VP ensures interoperability, compliance, and performance of integrated technology systems that enhance patient care, diagnostics, and operational efficiency.
Lead the strategic vision and execution of healthcare technology and lab informatics initiatives across clinical, research, and diagnostic operations.
Oversee implementation and optimization of systems including LIS, LIMS, ELN, HIS, EMR, middleware, and cloud-based platforms.
Establish data governance frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance (HIPAA, CAP, CLIA, FDA, GDPR) and cybersecurity.
Partner with stakeholders (clinical, lab, IT, and executive leadership) to align tech initiatives with business and care delivery goals.
Drive interoperability across healthcare systems, laboratories, and external partners through integration (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
Guide evaluation and procurement of emerging technologies, including AI/ML, IoT, and digital pathology tools.
Lead change management and user adoption of new systems and digital workflows.
Ensure high system uptime, usability, and vendor service quality through contract management and SLAs.
Build and lead a cross-functional team of informatics professionals, engineers, analysts, and project managers.
Laboratory Informatics Strategy
Deploy and integrate systems like LIS, LIMS, ELN, and middleware
Enhance laboratory automation, workflow efficiency, and result integrity
Healthcare IT & Interoperability
Connect lab systems with HIS/EMR platforms for seamless clinical integration
Enable real-time data sharing across care teams, labs, and regulatory bodies

Implement robust controls for data integrity, access, and security
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, CLIA, CAP, ISO, and FDA guidelines
AI/ML and Digital Enablement
Support advanced analytics, predictive diagnostics, and clinical decision support
Drive adoption of AI for image analysis, anomaly detection, and lab performance optimization
Vendor & Platform Management
Lead RFPs, vendor selection, and performance management for informatics tools
Foster innovation partnerships with tech providers and startups
Leadership & Organizational Impact
Build informatics and health tech capabilities within the organization
Influence enterprise-wide tech investments and digital health roadmap
Education:
Master’s or Ph.D. in Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field
MBA or Executive Education in Healthcare Leadership is highly preferred
Experience:
15+ years in healthcare IT, clinical systems, or laboratory informatics
Minimum 7 years in executive leadership roles within health systems or diagnostics
Proven success in multi-site, enterprise-level system implementations
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in:
LIS/LIMS platforms (e.g., Sunquest, LabWare, STARLIMS)
HIS/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
HL7, ASTM, FHIR interoperability standards
Cloud platforms, APIs, and middleware solutions
AI/ML and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAS)
