The Vice President – Capital Projects and Mechanical Engineering is responsible for the strategic leadership and execution of capital projects with a core focus on mechanical engineering systems. The role involves overseeing the end-to-end delivery of infrastructure and expansion projects, ensuring technical excellence, cost control, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational growth objectives. This executive will lead multidisciplinary teams and ensure successful integration of mechanical systems in plant, utility, and process operations.
Plan, manage, and execute major capital projects across plants and facilities.
Oversee budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and stakeholder management.
Drive project governance, risk management, and timely delivery.
Provide strategic direction on mechanical system design, installation, and commissioning.
Approve mechanical design specifications, BOQs, technical drawings, and system integration plans.
Ensure adherence to national and international engineering standards (e.g., ASME, API, IS codes).
Collaborate with civil, electrical, instrumentation, and automation teams for integrated project execution.
Coordinate with external contractors, consultants, OEMs, and regulatory bodies.
Drive adoption of modern technologies such as modular construction, advanced materials, and digital twin models.
Optimize mechanical system design for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Ensure all projects comply with applicable safety, environmental, and engineering codes.
Conduct audits, risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA), and lead mitigation initiatives.
Ensure seamless transition of capital assets into operations post-commissioning.
Develop O&M strategies, training programs, and performance baselines for mechanical systems.
Lead and mentor a team of project managers, mechanical engineers, and planners.
Build internal capabilities through continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical training.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s or MBA preferred).
18–25+ years of experience in capital project execution, mechanical engineering, and industrial infrastructure development.
Proven track record of leading large, complex, cross-functional projects in manufacturing, utilities, or process industries.
Familiarity with project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2) and engineering tools (AutoCAD, Primavera, SAP).
