We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President – Capital Projects (Mechanical/Valve Systems) to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of major capital projects focused on mechanical and valve systems within water and wastewater treatment facilities. This executive role will oversee project management, engineering design, procurement, and construction activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of critical infrastructure assets.
Capital Project Leadership
Lead the end-to-end management of large-scale capital projects involving mechanical equipment, valve systems, piping, and associated infrastructure within water treatment plants.
Develop and execute project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Drive cross-functional collaboration between engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure project success.
Technical Oversight & Engineering Excellence
Provide technical leadership and oversight for the design, specification, and installation of mechanical systems and valve assemblies.
Review and approve engineering designs, vendor specifications, and construction submittals to ensure compliance with industry standards (ASME, AWWA), regulatory codes, and project requirements.
Implement quality assurance processes and support commissioning activities.
Procurement & Vendor Management
Oversee procurement strategies for mechanical equipment and valves, ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and schedule adherence.
Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations for critical mechanical components and services.
Evaluate supplier performance and enforce compliance with contract terms and specifications.
Team Leadership & Development
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of project managers, engineers, and technical specialists focused on mechanical and valve systems projects.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Ensure professional development and succession planning within the capital projects group.
Financial & Risk Management
Develop and control capital budgets, track expenditures, and forecast project financials.
Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive planning and problem-solving.
Report project status, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Leadership of mechanical and valve systems capital projects in water treatment

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (required)
Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Certifications (Preferred):
PMP, PE, or equivalent project/engineering management certifications
ASME or AWWA memberships preferred
Experience:
12+ years of capital project management experience within the water/wastewater or industrial sectors
Proven expertise in managing mechanical systems and valve installations on complex infrastructure projects
Strong background in vendor management, contract negotiation, and quality assurance
Skills:
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Deep understanding of mechanical equipment, valve systems, and construction practices
Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, CMMS)
Ability to balance technical rigor with business and financial acumen
