Utilities Supervisor – Boiler, Steam, Compressors

Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Utilities Supervisor supports the daily operations, monitoring, and basic maintenance of utility systems including boilers, steam generation systems, and air compressors. The role involves assisting senior technicians and supervisors in ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient utility operations within the plant while learning compliance, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assist in the operation of boilers, steam systems, air compressors, and associated utilities.

  • Perform routine inspections and log operational parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow.

  • Support scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and basic troubleshooting under guidance.

  • Assist in the upkeep of safety and environmental compliance records for utilities.

  • Maintain daily shift reports and notify senior personnel of anomalies or faults.

  • Ensure cleanliness and operational readiness of the utility areas.

  • Work with vendors and service providers during maintenance or service activities.

  • Follow all safety protocols and participate in training related to boiler and compressor operation.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Boiler & Steam System Monitoring: Support steam generation processes, condensate recovery, and heat control systems.

  • Compressed Air Systems: Assist with monitoring compressors, dryers, and storage tanks for pressure and load balance.

  • Preventive Maintenance Support: Participate in lubrication, filter changes, minor repairs, and diagnostics.

  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and standard operating procedures for high-pressure systems.

  • Data Logging & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs for operational conditions and maintenance activities.

  • Learning & Development: Develop foundational knowledge of utilities control systems, water chemistry, and energy efficiency measures.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or relevant technical field).

  • 0–3 years of experience or internship in utilities operations or industrial plant maintenance preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of boiler operation, thermodynamics, or compressed air systems is desirable.

  • Strong willingness to learn and ability to follow safety and technical instructions.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Familiarity with MS Office tools and basic reporting practices.
