Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a proficient Mid-Level Turbomachinery Design Engineer to take ownership of the design and development of high-speed rotating components such as rotors, disks, blades, and shafts. The role involves performing detailed design work, coordinating analysis efforts, and driving design improvements to ensure component reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the design, modeling, and optimization of high-speed rotating components in turbomachinery systems.

    • Develop and validate detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent software.

    • Collaborate closely with FEA and CFD analysts to incorporate structural, thermal, and aerodynamic considerations into the design.

    • Perform mechanical design calculations including stress analysis, vibration analysis, and dynamic balancing.

    • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods considering performance, cost, and manufacturability.

    • Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting efforts, incorporating test feedback into design iterations.

    • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

    • Mentor junior engineers and assist in project planning and coordination.

Key Focus Areas:

    • High-Speed Rotating Components: Detailed design and structural integrity assessment of rotors, disks, blades, and shafts under centrifugal and thermal loads.

    • Mechanical and Vibration Analysis: Application of fatigue life estimation, modal analysis, and dynamic response for rotating parts.

    • CAD and Drawing Development: Production of accurate 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing.

    • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Integrating inputs from structural analysts, aerodynamicists, and manufacturing teams.

    • Material Selection & Manufacturing: Optimization of materials and processes to balance performance, durability, and cost.

    • Quality and Compliance: Adherence to industry standards and participation in design reviews and audits.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

    • 3-6 years of professional experience in turbomachinery design or rotating machinery.

    • Proficiency in CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX.

    • Working knowledge of mechanical design principles, stress and vibration analysis.

    • Familiarity with FEA and CFD workflows and their role in the design process.

    • Strong problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and team collaboration.

    • Experience in prototyping and testing is a plus.
