The Junior Turbo Assembly Technician is responsible for assisting in the assembly, inspection, and testing of turbochargers and related components for automotive applications. This hands-on role works under the guidance of senior technicians and production leads to ensure proper assembly practices, cleanliness standards, and part accuracy. The technician will gain foundational skills in mechanical assembly, torque specifications, precision handling, and quality inspection procedures.
Assist in assembling turbochargers, housings, rotating assemblies (CHRA), and wastegates using hand tools and torque equipment.
Follow work instructions, drawings, and part lists to ensure correct assembly sequence and orientation.
Maintain cleanliness and part integrity to meet clean-room or controlled environment standards.
Handle precision components such as bearings, turbines, and compressor wheels with care to avoid damage.
Perform basic visual inspections for part defects or inconsistencies during assembly.
Record serial numbers, torque values, and component IDs in production or quality logs.
Use calibrated torque wrenches, presses, gauges, and pneumatic tools under supervision.
Assist in setup and operation of balancing equipment and leak test machines when required.
Follow all workplace safety rules and wear appropriate PPE.
Support compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality guidelines, and cleanliness protocols.
Work as part of a team on the assembly line or in a small-batch production cell.
Ask questions and seek guidance to learn proper techniques and tool usage.
Participate in training programs to build mechanical skills and product knowledge.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical certification or coursework in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Assembly, or related field preferred
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or assembly role
Exposure to engine parts, turbo systems, or rotating machinery a plus (e.g., through school, internship, or hobby work)
Technical Skills:
Familiarity with hand tools, torque wrenches, and measurement tools
Basic understanding of mechanical components and how they fit together
Willingness to learn how to read mechanical drawings and follow technical procedures
