The Junior Turbine Technician – Water Treatment Plant is responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of turbine systems used within water treatment and pumping facilities. This entry-level role provides hands-on exposure to turbine maintenance tasks under the guidance of senior technicians and supervisors. The technician will assist in routine inspections, repairs, and safety procedures to ensure continuous and efficient turbine operation.
Maintenance Assistance:
Assist with the basic maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of turbines and associated rotating equipment (e.g., pumps, blowers, compressors).
Help in the replacement of minor components like gaskets, seals, filters, and couplings.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Observe turbine performance and report abnormalities (noise, vibration, leaks) to senior technicians.
Record maintenance activities, measurements, and observations in logs.
Tool & Material Handling:
Support the preparation and safe use of hand tools, lifting equipment, and materials for maintenance tasks.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and permit systems.
Participate in safety drills and training activities.
Learning & Development:
Attend on-the-job training to understand turbine operation, maintenance procedures, and equipment safety.
Study and interpret basic equipment manuals and maintenance checklists.
Team Support:
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams during planned maintenance or emergency interventions.
Assist in cleaning and organizing the turbine maintenance workshop and storage areas.
Foundational Mechanical Skills:
Develop practical knowledge of turbines and mechanical systems in a water treatment context.
Preventive Maintenance Participation:
Learn and assist in scheduled maintenance to prevent equipment failures.
Equipment Familiarization:
Gain familiarity with different types of turbines and auxiliary equipment used in water and wastewater operations.
Safety Awareness:
Practice and internalize plant safety protocols and hazard identification.
Hands-On Technical Exposure:
Support and learn from experienced technicians in real-world maintenance scenarios.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent (freshers encouraged).
0–2 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in utilities or plant operations.
Basic understanding of mechanical tools and safety practices.
Willingness to learn and work in an industrial environment.
Physical fitness for manual tasks and work in confined spaces or elevated areas.
