The Junior Turbine Technician assists in maintenance, inspection, and repair work of gas and/or steam turbines and their auxiliary systems. Under the guidance of senior technicians, the role is focused on learning technical procedures, adhering to safety protocols, and developing mechanical skills for turbine servicing.
Support in the dismantling and assembling of turbine components including blades, rotors, bearings, and valves.
Assist in cleaning and preparing turbine parts and tools for inspections or reassembly.
Follow instructions to perform basic mechanical tasks using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Transport tools and materials to the turbine worksite and help maintain organized workspaces.
Document basic work progress and assist in preparing maintenance records or checklists.
Observe and follow all safety practices including use of PPE, tool safety, and hazard awareness.
Attend technical training sessions and participate in safety and toolbox talks.
Report any unusual equipment behavior or issues to senior staff.
Learn turbine maintenance fundamentals through hands-on support and guidance from experienced team members.
Assist in basic measurements (e.g., bolt torquing, clearance gauging) and gradually gain familiarity with precision tools.
Use and maintain basic tools and assist in lifting, moving, and securing turbine components safely.
Understand and practice workplace safety, including confined space entry, lockout-tagout (LOTO), and fire safety protocols.
Work closely with turbine teams and build a foundation of cooperation and communication in high-risk environments.
Education: ITI, Vocational Training Certificate, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 0–2 years; internship or plant trainee experience is preferred
Preferred Industry: Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Industrial Maintenance
Basic mechanical understanding of rotating equipment or turbines
Willingness to learn and follow technical instructions
Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively
Physically fit for field work in demanding industrial environments
Strong attention to safety and quality
Good teamwork, discipline, and communication
On-site role in industrial settings with exposure to heat, noise, confined spaces, and heights
May require shift work and extended hours during shutdowns or outages
Strict adherence to PPE and site safety policies is mandatory
