The Junior Turbine Overhaul Technician assists in the execution of turbine overhauls, including disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and basic mechanical servicing under close supervision. This role is hands-on and developmental, with a focus on building fundamental mechanical skills and ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols during turbine maintenance campaigns.
Support disassembly and assembly of gas or steam turbines under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.
Assist in handling and preparation of turbine components such as blades, rotors, diaphragms, bearings, and casings.
Clean and prepare turbine parts for inspection and reassembly.
Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from work areas safely.
Perform basic measurements (e.g., bolt torque, visual checks) under supervision.
Maintain toolkits, work areas, and assigned machinery in an orderly condition.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and permit-to-work systems.
Document job progress and observations as instructed.
Learn the basic procedures for turbine disassembly, cleaning, and component handling.
Understand and follow OEM work instructions during overhaul support activities.
Assist in taking simple readings like bolt torque or clearances.
Observe and report abnormal conditions to senior staff.
Use basic mechanical hand tools, lifting devices, and PPE correctly.
Follow job-specific safety guidelines including LOTO, confined space, and hot work precautions.
Support team activities during overhauls and routine servicing.
Build communication and coordination skills within the maintenance crew.
Education: ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent technical training)
Experience: 0–2 years; turbine-related apprenticeship or internship is an advantage
Preferred Industry: Power Plants, Refineries, Industrial Maintenance Services
Basic understanding of turbine components and mechanical systems
Willingness to learn and follow instructions closely
Good manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools safely
Strong awareness of personal and team safety
Ability to work in physically demanding and fast-paced environments
Field-based job involving work in noisy, hot, and confined environments
Requires climbing, lifting, and prolonged standing or crouching
Adherence to strict safety standards and full use of PPE is mandatory
May include shift work or overtime during outages and turnarounds
