The Senior Turbine Overhaul Supervisor is accountable for planning, supervising, and delivering large-scale turbine overhauls (steam and/or gas turbines) with high technical accuracy and within safety, quality, and schedule targets. The role includes managing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring adherence to OEM and QA/QC standards, and collaborating with engineering, operations, and OEM representatives to optimize turbine performance and reliability.
Lead complete overhauls and major inspections of gas/steam turbines, including rotor removal, internal inspection, alignment, and final commissioning.
Manage turbine disassembly, component inspection, refurbishment, and reassembly per OEM procedures (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
Develop detailed execution plans, work breakdown structures, and resource requirements for outages and turnarounds.
Direct and coordinate all technical activities, supervising work teams, technicians, and contractors on-site.
Validate clearances, tolerances, and torqueing in critical components (e.g., bearings, blades, diaphragms, seals, casings).
Monitor progress and performance against outage schedules, reporting delays or deviations with proposed solutions.
Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and permit-to-work systems.
Review and approve job packs, risk assessments, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Coordinate with OEM engineers and third-party specialists for technical guidance and compliance.
Provide leadership in root cause analysis (RCA) for failures or abnormal findings, proposing corrective actions.
Train, coach, and mentor junior supervisors and technicians, fostering high standards of workmanship and safety.
Maintain complete documentation, including inspection reports, QA/QC logs, and post-outage summary reports.
Take full ownership of the end-to-end execution of turbine overhauls.
Apply advanced knowledge of turbine internals, critical tolerances, and OEM standards.
Ensure all maintenance tasks meet QA/QC requirements and international standards (e.g., API, ASME).
Perform final reviews and sign-offs on critical mechanical inspections and measurements.
Manage complex turbine maintenance scopes within tight deadlines and budget constraints.
Track critical path items and mobilize resources to prevent delays.
Lead safety efforts during overhauls and conduct incident investigations where needed.
Ensure all tasks are conducted under valid permits and hazard control procedures.
Liaise with engineering, planning, and operations departments for scheduling, technical issues, and resource allocation.
Represent the overhaul team in meetings with senior management and external consultants/OEMs.
