Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Junior Turbine Instrument Technician assists in the installation, inspection, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation systems associated with gas or steam turbines. This role supports senior technicians in ensuring accurate measurement and reliable operation of control instruments used in turbine systems.


Key Focus Areas:

  • Instrument Support for Turbine Systems – Assist with sensors, transmitters, and control devices related to temperature, pressure, vibration, and speed.

  • Routine Inspection & Calibration – Help perform basic checks and calibration of turbine instruments under supervision.

  • Signal Testing & Wiring Checks – Support continuity checks and signal tracing during preventive maintenance.

  • Safety & Standards Compliance – Follow safety protocols and use PPE during all instrumentation activities around rotating machinery.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in installation and wiring of field instruments on turbine systems (e.g., thermocouples, RTDs, pressure switches, vibration probes).

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, cable routing, and mounting of instruments.

  • Help with testing signal loops to control systems (DCS/PLC).

  • Maintain and organize tools, calibration kits, and equipment inventory.

  • Record basic test results and support completion of maintenance checklists.

  • Report equipment conditions, unusual readings, or malfunctions to senior staff.


Qualifications:

  • ITI Certificate or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Electronics Technology.

  • 0–2 years of experience in instrumentation, preferably with exposure to rotating equipment or turbines.

  • Basic knowledge of industrial sensors, control loops, and instrumentation wiring.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Willingness to learn turbine instrumentation systems and standards.

  • Basic understanding of electrical safety and control signals (4–20mA, RTDs, thermocouples).

  • Good teamwork and communication with senior technicians.

  • Physical fitness and comfort working in hot, loud, and high-vibration environments.
