The Junior Turbine Engineer supports the maintenance, inspection, and performance monitoring of steam, gas, and hydro turbines. The role involves assisting senior engineers in outage planning, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing condition monitoring practices to ensure reliability and availability of turbine systems. This position is ideal for a recent mechanical engineering graduate or early-career engineer aiming to grow in the power generation sector.
Technical Support for Maintenance Activities
Assist in preparation of maintenance plans, checklists, and standard operating procedures for turbine equipment.
Support execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks during outages and planned shutdowns.
Inspection & Condition Monitoring
Participate in vibration analysis, thermography, borescope inspections, and alignment checks.
Help record and interpret readings from sensors and monitoring systems on turbine components.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain logs of turbine performance, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Prepare initial drafts of technical reports, root cause analyses, and equipment history updates.
Project Assistance
Support senior engineers during turbine overhauls, part replacements, and minor upgrade projects.
Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for parts availability, delivery tracking, and basic installation support.
Safety & Compliance
Comply with plant safety protocols and contribute to job safety analysis (JSA) and tool-box talks.
Follow engineering and quality standards applicable to turbine operation and repair.
Learning & Development
Participate in on-the-job training and attend technical sessions to build knowledge of turbine systems.
Shadow senior engineers during complex troubleshooting and failure analysis tasks.

Education: Bachelorโs Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience: 0โ3 years in turbine or rotating equipment environments (internships, trainee programs, or entry-level roles preferred)
Certifications: None required, but exposure to OSHA safety training or mechanical technician courses is a plus
Basic knowledge of steam/gas/hydro turbine principles and rotating machinery
Familiarity with mechanical tools, vibration monitoring equipment, and technical drawings
Strong willingness to learn, observe, and apply engineering standards
Good communication and reporting skills
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with CMMS is a plus
Field and plant-based work in turbine halls, generator areas, and mechanical workshops
Participation in maintenance shifts, outage support, and possible weekend work
Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to HSE guidelines at all times
