The Mid-Level Tooling and Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day activities of a team involved in the fabrication of production tooling, jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids. This role ensures that fabrication processes are executed efficiently, meet quality standards, and adhere to safety and production schedules. The supervisor will also contribute to process improvements and support cross-functional manufacturing teams.
Supervise the fabrication and assembly of jigs, fixtures, dies, and tooling components according to engineering specifications and CAD drawings.
Coordinate daily activities of fabrication personnel including welders, machinists, and toolmakers.
Review and interpret complex technical drawings and translate them into clear work instructions.
Monitor progress of fabrication projects and adjust resource allocation to meet delivery timelines.
Ensure quality standards through in-process inspections and first-article validation.
Implement and maintain 5S, lean manufacturing practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with design, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering to support new product introductions and tooling modifications.
Ensure all fabrication work complies with safety standards and equipment operating procedures.
Maintain tooling inventory and track usage of raw materials and consumables.
Document fabrication processes and report status to management and cross-functional stakeholders.
