Thermal Valve Assembly Supervisor

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Senior Supervisor – Thermal Valve Assembly is responsible for leading and optimizing the entire thermal valve assembly function, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and delivery standards. The role requires in-depth technical expertise in thermal valve assembly (pressure relief, temperature control, safety valves) and strong leadership to drive productivity, process improvements, and team performance across shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and monitor complete thermal valve assembly operations including sub-assembly, final assembly, and testing readiness.

  • Review and interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, process sheets, and torque specifications.

  • Ensure correct sequence and techniques in spring setting, stem/spindle alignment, sealing surface assembly, and torque application.

  • Plan, allocate, and monitor manpower across shifts to meet production deadlines and customer delivery schedules.

  • Lead resolution of on-floor technical and quality-related issues in coordination with QA/QC and engineering teams.

  • Drive compliance with Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), ITPs, and customer specifications.

  • Supervise documentation and traceability for assembly records, torque charts, rework logs, and operator checklists.

  • Coordinate closely with the testing, painting, and dispatch departments to streamline post-assembly workflow.

  • Identify areas of process inefficiencies and lead implementation of lean practices and continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S).

  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure strict compliance with workplace safety and equipment handling protocols.

  • Train and mentor mid-level supervisors and technicians to upgrade skills and process knowledge.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. Technical Mastery in Valve Assembly:

    • Expertise in pressure/temperature-based valve mechanisms and precise assembly procedures.

    • Knowledge of high-precision fits, tolerance control, sealing mechanisms, and spring setting calibration.

  2. Production Planning & Shift Management:

    • Strategic planning of resources, shift scheduling, and adherence to daily/monthly production targets.

    • Ensure minimal downtime and optimal utilization of manpower and machinery.

  3. Cross-Functional Coordination:

    • Liaise with design, quality, purchase, and planning departments to resolve part discrepancies, engineering changes, or shortages.

    • Ensure smooth coordination for testing, inspection, and dispatch.

  4. Quality & Compliance Control:

    • Ensure all valves are assembled to meet internal and external quality standards (API, ASME, ISO).

    • Conduct in-process quality audits and assist in customer/third-party inspections.

  5. Process Improvement & People Development:

    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in assembly line efficiency, quality reduction of rework, and operator skill enhancement.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration among the team.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production Engineering.

  • 8–12 years of experience in valve manufacturing with strong expertise in thermal valve assembly operations.

  • Proven leadership managing teams across shifts and delivering on tight production timelines.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical drawings, GD&T, torque specs, and hydraulic/pneumatic assembly tools.

  • Familiarity with QMS standards (ISO 9001, API 6D, PED, IBR) and ERP/MES systems.

  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and team development skills.
