The Thermal Lab Technician – Climate Chambers (Mid-Level) is responsible for executing thermal and environmental testing of automotive components and systems using advanced climate chambers. This role involves independently preparing test setups, installing instrumentation, programming chambers, and validating data accuracy. The technician supports engineering teams by ensuring efficient test execution, troubleshooting system or sensor issues, and maintaining high standards of safety and test integrity throughout thermal validation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and execute environmental tests for HVAC, powertrain, and battery systems within climate chambers according to test plans.
Install, calibrate, and verify instrumentation including thermocouples, RTDs, pressure sensors, and humidity sensors.
Program chamber conditions (temperature ramps, humidity profiles, cold soak, thermal shock) and validate against test parameters.
Troubleshoot and resolve chamber faults, sensor errors, or DAQ system anomalies during active tests.
Collaborate with test engineers to refine test plans, fixture designs, and measurement strategies.
Perform thermal cycling, cold start tests, de-icing, condensation analysis, and component durability tests.
Document test setup details, deviations, and results in lab records and test management systems.
Perform preventive maintenance and calibration checks on chambers and instrumentation systems.
Key Focus Areas:
Execution of advanced thermal test procedures in climate-controlled environments
Accurate sensor installation and data acquisition support
Chamber programming and condition monitoring
Problem-solving and issue resolution during test execution
Process documentation and equipment upkeep
