Thermal Control Valve Systems Engineer

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Thermal Control Valve Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced thermal control valve technologies. This role will play a key part in optimizing thermal management systems across automotive, EV, industrial, or HVAC platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in fluid-thermal behavior, valve mechanics, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and development of thermal control valves (thermostatic, electronically actuated, bypass, and proportional valves).

  • Drive thermal and fluid system analysis, including flow, pressure drop, and thermal response modeling.

  • Guide system-level integration of valves within thermal circuits such as engine cooling, battery thermal systems, or HVAC loops.

  • Conduct and review simulation (CFD, FEA) and analytical models to validate valve performance and durability.

  • Oversee DVP&R, validation testing, and failure analysis to meet reliability and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and approve CAD designs, 2D drawings, GD&T, and material specifications.

  • Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

  • Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers and contribute to strategic R&D initiatives.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Advanced Thermal Valve Design: Solenoid-actuated, thermostatic, and multi-function control valves

  • System Engineering & Integration: End-to-end valve function within thermal systems (ICE, EV, HVAC)

  • Simulation & Analysis: CFD (e.g., ANSYS Fluent), FEA (e.g., Abaqus), MATLAB for thermal-fluid modeling

  • Testing & Validation: Defining test plans, analyzing performance data, solving thermal and mechanical failures

  • Material & Sealing Expertise: Selection for high-temp/corrosive fluids, elastomer compatibility

  • Innovation & Standards: Patent development, design to ISO/SAE standards, and continuous improvement

  • Project & Team Leadership: Guiding cross-disciplinary teams, mentoring, and technical presentations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or equivalent

  • 7+ years of experience in valve or thermal system design

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and simulation tools (CFD, FEA)

  • Strong analytical background in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics

  • Proven experience in design validation, testing, and problem resolution

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with automotive, EV, HVAC, or industrial thermal systems

  • Familiarity with quality systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and compliance with SAE, ASME standards

  • Strong communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration and mentoring
