The Testing & Validation Manager – HVAC Units leads the testing, validation, and certification activities for HVAC products during development and manufacturing. This role ensures that HVAC systems meet design specifications, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations before release. The manager oversees testing labs, validation protocols, and cross-functional collaboration to drive product reliability, safety, and performance.
Develop and manage comprehensive testing and validation plans for HVAC products, including heat pumps, chillers, air handlers, and controls.
Oversee lab operations, including test equipment calibration, maintenance, and compliance.
Lead functional, performance, reliability, environmental, and safety testing programs.
Validate new product designs through rigorous testing to ensure compliance with AHRI, UL, ASHRAE, ISO, DOE, EPA, and other relevant standards.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to define test criteria, acceptance thresholds, and failure modes.
Support production process validation and troubleshooting to ensure consistent product quality.
Manage certification processes and documentation to meet global regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on industry standards and regulatory changes affecting HVAC products.
Liaise with certification bodies, regulatory agencies, and third-party testing labs.
Analyze test data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and opportunities for design or process improvements.
Prepare detailed validation reports and presentations for stakeholders and executive leadership.
Implement test automation and digital tools to enhance testing efficiency and data integrity.
Lead and develop a team of test engineers, technicians, and validation specialists.
Foster a culture of quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Coordinate training and skill development programs within the testing organization.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field (required)
Advanced degree or certifications in quality, testing, or HVAC technologies preferred
8+ years in HVAC product testing, validation, or quality assurance roles
3+ years in a managerial position overseeing test and validation teams
Experience with HVAC product certifications and industry standards
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, testing methodologies, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in test equipment, data acquisition systems, and analysis software
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
